Duty Solicitor at SACAT
WRC offers a duty solicitor advice service at SACAT in the Housing and Civil stream, or the Administration and Discipline stream for clients experiencing homelessness, at risk of homelessness or low income earners. Twice weekly (Wednesdays and Fridays), our solicitor and social worker are available for scheduled appointments to provide free advice on your upcoming SACAT matter. To book one of these appointments, please contact SACAT on 1800 723 767 and ask to have an appointment with the Welfare Rights/Housing Legal Clinic legal team.
If the matter is urgent (a hearing scheduled before the next advice session), please contact WRC’s office to speak with one of our advocates or volunteers.
If you do not have a matter at SACAT, but are just seeking advice on how to pursue a matter or what rights you have, you are also able to book an appointment, again please contact SACAT on the above number. You are also able to email your enquiry to us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you have general tenancy questions that are of a non-legal nature, please contact TIAS in the first instance.
Examples of matters that we assist with include evictions (vacant possessions), bond disputes, compensation, neighbour complaints. This can be in any type of housing, for example (but not limited to) public housing, retirement villages, caravan parks, or private landlords
